An ethnologist in the world of heritage. Recognizing the croatian intangible culture

Experiences in implementation of the Unesco s Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage are in the focus of the text. It discusses the gradual introduction of intangible culture in Croatian legal framework and the on-going efforts of professionals who are involved in its preservation. Theoretical starting points and practical problems are presented on the example of inscription of the nijemo kolo [silent circle dance] of the Dalmatian hinterland to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
