The studies on GFAF have been obstructed by the lack of a musical materials that reports the festival. In this circumstance, the fieldworks of Lee Bo-hyung on the folk music of GFAF helps analyze the aspects of the development of GFAF.The early materials of the Lee Bo-hyung fieldworks is the detailed notes on the conference materials, the books, and the experiences from the competitions. Since the 11th competition (1993) the fieldwork includes the cassette tape recorded soundtracks on top of the aforementioned notes. His materials show a lot of clues to analyze the change of the folk music since the earliest competitions. This compensates for the lack of materials in the field of folk music.GFAF have been providing a meeting place for the various folk arts of Gangwon province for around 30 years since 1983. The folk arts of Gangwon province therefore have been helped in an effort to attend the festival, constructing a repertoire for the folk arts. Each folk arts have improved their structures through these efforts. Moreover, GFAF acted as an experimental stage for the folk arts to become an intangible cultural heritage of Korea.
