| Resumen |
This study explores the offer of live flamenco vis-à-vis two variables: Its nature (public, private or non-profit) and its form of expression (singing, dancing or a combination of the two). It provides a dynamic analysis of the supply of live flamenco shows over the period 2006-13 in the city of Seville, Spain. The authors draw on the data provided in Flama: La Guía del Flamenco, a detailed monthly guide to all live shows since 2006. They also conduct a qualitative analysis. The findings shed light on how flamenco as a cultural product could foster cultural tourism and thus help to boost the productive fabric of the economy at the regional and national levels. If it is to meet the ever-increasing demand, this sector must devise new professionalization strategies and new management models. |
