Abstract

This paper discusses the relation between gastronomy and tourism, emphasizing the former as an intangible heritage, filled with symbolism and cultural rites. The study s goal is to identify the influence of the gastronomy as a promotional factor of tourism, in a cultural festival, in the conceit of the event s different stakeholders. This is a qualitative research study, with case study method. It was used systematic observation and semi-structured interviews with the stakeholders of the Revelando Sao Paulo Festival. It was observed that the traditional gastronomy presented at the festival is interpreted as part of a cultural product in a destination. Exhibitors, organizers and media believe the event can be considered an important factor for the local tourism, given its contact with popular culture representatives, art performances, and gastronomic motivation.
