Abstract

This paper discusses the application of machine translation in the international communication of Spanish intangible cultural heritage (intangible cultural heritage) and its challenges. As a bridge of cross-cultural exchanges, the intangible cultural heritage projects promote the global understanding and respect for the culture of Spanish-speaking countries. With technological advances, machine translation has evolved from early simple word replacement to statistical methods relying on large-scale corpora to current neural machine translation (NMT), improving the nature and accuracy of translation. However, machine translation still faces challenges when dealing with deep cultural meaning and emotional expression. The success of cultural communication not only depends on the accurate conversion of words, but also requires a deep understanding of the cultural background.
