Abstract

New mobilities tend to promote globalization and multiculturalism. At the same time, more and more microcosms based on cultural particularisms appear worldwide. This article describes a specific microcosm, that of the French Canadian in Florida. The region of Fort-Lauderdale-Hollywood is known as the "Petit Quebec" or "Floribec" since thousands of French Canadians from Quebec go over there each year during winter time. The author analyses the ways by which French Canadians transfer consciously or subconsciously their intangible cultural heritage into this part of Florida to establish a real "Petit Quebec" under the palm trees.
