The article deals with six socio-cultural factors that form the identity crisis situation of a modern man: the plurality of social identity; new opportunities to choose biological affiliation; mobility of cultural boundaries; the formation of new universally significant reference groups; mobility of social groups and constant updating of identification prospects. Psychopathological consequences of identification crisis such as frustration and loss of energy are revealed.
