In this paper we try to spread the potential of den drochronology as a helpful tool for archaeological research of wooden nautical heritage. Its level of development at the Basque Country and the most important cases are exposed. Between them, the Newp ort Ship case is highlighted, as its dendrochronological research allowed absolute datin g and knowing the Basque origin of the trees used for its hull’s planks
