In 2008 the emblematic Plaza Jemaa of Fná in Marrakesh was named an Intangible World Heritage Site. Based on ethnographic experience and in order to reflect on the relationship between body and space, here we describe the characteristic traits of this plaza to then answer two basic questions. What feelings arise from the scenes of representation produced here as a “space of condensation?” And to what degree does the display of bodily feeling in dialogue with stimuli which come from the surroundings constitute one of the keys to the extraordinary attraction of this place? |
