Résumé

This article places the popular festival as intangible cultural heritage and, as such, a privileged object of safeguard policies. Departing from the defense of actions to preserve the memory of these cultural assets, it analyzes Salvadors carnival as an example, a party marked by a polyphony of cultural manifestations that, however, have not been translated into the official framework of its memory. The text investigates the reasons for such selectivity, as well as warning about the damage that this entails. Still, it presents a brief experience report of the project "Memories of the Reign of Momo", an initiative that aims to rehabilitate invisible memories in the chronology of the party.
