The canning legacy of the Puerto of Mar del Plata neighbourhood and its patrimonial interest from the symbolic-social analysis

This article investigates the problems linked to the industrial heritage of the port sectors. In particular, the canning legacy of the Puerto neighbourhood of the city of Mar del Plata (Argentina) is analysed from its related material and immaterial as-pects, emphasizing its symbolic-social characteristics. For this, we work with a qual-itative approach and from a perspective focused on past-present interrelationships, which articulates graphic, written and oral archives. Thus, it is proposed to advance its knowledge along with diffusion guidelines that provide other views towards its pres-ervation. © 2023, Universidad de Cantabria. All rights reserved.
