Abstract

The article results from research in the context of the History of Food and Cultural Heritage that sought to understand two gastronomic cultural practices of the Vale do Rio Pardo Region, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul - Brazil: the Dreams of Rio Pardo and the Galinhada from Venancio Aires city. We analyzed, from the qualitative perspective, two audiovisual sources produced for a project called "Nossa Culinaria, nosso Patrimonio" (Our Cuisine, our Heritage). The main categories of analysis were commensality, gender, cultural heritage, and social memory. We considered the narratives about the two cuisines that constituted the videos as narratives of social memory. The research contributed to the reflection on the ways of preservation and/or recognition of local knowledge of gastronomic heritage and made it possible to recognize the potentialities of audiovisual sources in the research on History of Food and intangible Cultural Heritage and their interlocutions with the field of Social Memory
