Abstract

Color is an essential means for Peking Opera Painted Faces (POPF) to show their characters’ emotional characteristics and image connotations. Peking opera Painted Faces’ color selection has certain regularity and specific combination mode, reflecting the artistic connotation of Peking Opera Painted Faces. Taking Peking Opera Painted Faces as the research object, the paper has constructed a color palette by extracting color information and conducts a quantitative analysis of color by clustering, and binning methods to explore the color combination rules of color semantics of single color and color combinations of Peking Opera Painted Faces, in the hope of contributing to the live transmission of traditional Chinese aesthetics.
