Abstract |
The aim of the article was to draw a reflection on the approaches built around folklore and discuss, from its musealization, the debate that marked the history of intangible heritage in Brazil. To achieve this proposal, we asked about the place of folklore in the nationality project in the context of its institutionalization with UNESCO. This question was answered by mapping the actions of the National Folklore Commission and transforming it into a Campaign for the Defense of Brazilian Folklore, a scenario marked by the Government s acceptance of the study of folklore in the country. When folklore became an instrument of public interest, Folklore Museums were created and used to reaffirm Brazilianness. |
