Abstract

The present work exposes how the lack of strategies in the educational institutions of Colombia and the little attachment to the fulfillment of the educational laws provoke failures in the teaching-learning process regarding the cultural patrimony of the nation. Colombian laws, decrees, conventions of the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture) and Ministers of Education and Culture are shown, which support cultural heritage focused on archaeological and natural classification, thus assessing the importance of its intangible character. In education, the benefits of artistic education for integral development are recognized. Some teachers and educational institutions make efforts to maintain the traditions, folklore and intangible heritage that are permeating popular cultures alien to the nation, in the case of transient fashions that do not develop their own identity. The article offers a general review of the background of artistic education in Colombia, and the extreme need to safeguard, protect, value, conserve, enrich and disseminate the cultural diversity and variety of the Colombian nation, as objectives of the teaching-learning process in the different educational levels, so that it achieves the desired objectives.
