Abstract

In 2017, an interdisciplinary group of Universidad Nacional del Sur (UNS) researchers was granted by an Extension Project called “Maritimidad y patrimonio cultural de los pescadores artesanales del sudoeste bonaerense” with the aim to rebuild memories, knowledge, practices and identities of small scale artisanal fishers from the Bahía Blanca Estuary: a group constituted in relation with the sea and broke by the dispossession of extractivist and neoliberal policies. This work aims to recover the roles and gender models as an emergent and fundamental way to understand the paths in which these collectives have built themselves intersubjectively. In effect, here, gender issues are linked to a series of historical legacies, traditions, worldviews and relationships established with the territory itself. Through semi-structured interviews with fishers, we will explore and describe roles in relation to the couple, family, work and as a subjects imagined and linked to the maritime environment.
