The educational programme «The school adopts a monument» has been developed in Tarragona schools within the Tarragona Educational City scheme and according to the educational dynamics as a world heritage city. During two academic courses, 22 schools have taken part. It is a complementary programme to the school curriculum, transversal and network-shaped, promoted by the Town Council as educational agent, and has been possible thanks to the schools, because it fits into the continuing citizenship education processes.The programme underlines the educational role of archaeological, tangible or intangible heritage in the process of social co-responsibility in education and its value as educational tool in a process of comprehensive education of the participants
