It is necessary to refer Japan’s cases to have Baekje remains included the World Heritage List. Currently, 3 natural heritages, 12 cultural heritages and 3 intangible cultural heritages in Japan are designated as world heritages, and each of them is preserved and managed by related ministry.Japan made the following efforts to have its places designated as world heritages. To begin with, it introduced and utilized the principle or system of the world heritage treaty, and made lots of efforts to overcome the West-centered UNESCO evaluation and increase the organization’s understanding of wood buildings. Furthermore, it tried to arouse citizenship for local benefits acquired by wining designation as world heritage and the preservation and utilization of the heritage. Specifically, it created and managed world heritage-related course at universities and published various books about world heritage. Lastly, it made public broadcasting companies like NHK produce and broadcast programs related to world heritage, expanding the base for world heritage.Based on Japan’s cases like these, an academic approach should be made in the first place to the bid to have Baekje culture included the World Heritage List. This can be improved by identifying problems with the registering process of world heritage with the help of experts. Next, it is importantto remember that the most influential industry in the 21st century is culture, and winning designation as world heritage will serve as a foundation for becoming world cultural power. Moreover, it is also necessary to observe world intangible cultural heritage and world record heritage, which areincreasingly recognized recently. Lastly, close cooperation and nderstanding among nations is required to make the world acquainted with the significant values of Baekje remains and have them designated as world heritage. Therefore, 「Cooperation between Korea and Japan」is considered veryimportant in making Gongju and Buyeo included in the World heritage List. |
