Intangible heritage in the United Kingdom

The purpose of this research is to explore the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage in England. Although there has been an abundance of research since the UNESCO 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, there has been very little focus specifically on England. This thesis met the research aim through an extensive study of relevant literature and a case study. The latter was carried out through the Museum of British Folklore, by way of semi-structured e-mail correspondence and personal observation of an exhibition.
