This article presents the three different interpretation strategies used for Yoruba objects in Western museums. It argues that, traditional religious Yoruba objects in museums and art galleries are primarily interpreted either as ethnogtraphic items or as art objects. It is very rare an interpretation that respect their religious essence. |
