The concept of intangible properties of North Korea is almost same as that of intangible properties of South Korea, which is called immaterial heritage in North Korea. South and North Korea follows the concept of intangible heritage of humanity in the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage. South Korea’s intangible properties aim for the principle of the prototype preservation, which were enacted from the ‘Cultural Properties Protection Law’ of 1962 and divided to the ‘Act on Preservation and Promotion of Intangible Cultural Heritage’ of 2015. North Korea stipulated ‘immaterial heritage’ in the ‘National Heritage Protection Act of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’ in 2015 and presents a direction on the principle of the original state preservation through the revision of ‘Socialist Constitution’ in 2019.South Korea designated seven categories such as traditional performance․arts, traditional technology, traditional living practices, rituals․ceremonies, traditional plays․martial arts, traditional knowledge, and oral tradition․expressions and about 150 items as the national designated cultural properties. North Korea registered five categories such as oral tradition․expressions, traditional arts, social practices․ceremonies․seasonal customs events, knowledge and practices regarding nature and space and traditional handcrafts and about 110 items as ‘National Immaterial Heritage’.The fundamental direction to execute the exchange collaboration of intangible cultural heritage of South and North Korea is needed as follows :1) execution of the exchange collaboration to lead the preservation of prototype of intangible heritage, 2) mutual trust and respect of South and North Korea, 3) elevation to the humanitarian level for the exchange collaboration of intangible cultural heritage, 4) a gradual approach according to the development of South and North Korea’s relations, 5) the exchange collaboration to co-exist South and North Korea mutually, 6) consideration on reality leading by South and North Korea according to the power difference of two nations, 7) the exchange collaboration to form a national support and a bond of sympathy, 8) the future-oriented exchange collaboration.The more concrete executing plans for the exchange collaboration based on the above is also needed as follows:1) exchange of research and study and researchers, 2) accumulation of materials and informatization, 3) search and preservation of the original state of Intangible heritage, 4) exchange of exhibitions, performances, and artisans of South and North Korea, 5) reinforcement of the cooperation in the public and private sectors, 6) reinforcement of the cooperation of South and North Korea in the international society, 7) creation of everyday peaceful space for intangible heritage, 8) organization of the law and system for future-oriented and sustainable promotion, 9) gradual and sustainable promotion plans of the exchange collaboration. |
