The Basque Cultural Institute has collected account s form 32 women and men from the maritime world as part of its programme to collect oral memo ry in the Northern Basque Country. Most are from Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Ciboure, as well as Hendaye a nd Guéthary. Their life stories talk about working as sea fishermen, fishing techniques, ship building, fishing in Dakar, jobs and the organisati on of the port of Saint Jean de Luz-Ciboure
