Resumen

Since several years ago, the European Institutions are promoting programmes for the development of rural areas to stop the exodus from villages to the big urban centres. They are looking for an economic activation through the establishment of bottom-up networks, from local to regional, establishing a gear in which each community is able to stimulate economically its own resources. In this study, we will try to establish the characteristics of these programs, to define the concept of intangible heritage and to establish what role the intangible cultural heritage plays, or can play, in the field of rural recovery actions developed by supranational European institutions.
