Resumen

The purpose of this study is to provide a comprehensive analysis of music-related terminology in Turkic languages, focusing on its development, etymological changes, and semantic shifts under the influence of cultural, social, and religious factors. The study examines the origins and evolution of musical terms across different cultural contexts, both within the Turkic languages and with regard to loanwords from other languages. Traditional terms deeply rooted in folk music traditions are considered alongside borrowed terms that have subsequently been adapted and integrated into Turkic languages. The study reveals that musical terminology in Turkic languages demonstrates considerable semantic flexibility, often extending beyond its initial musical meaning. These terms have evolved to describe not only specific musical genres and practices but also to convey more complex cultural, philosophical, and religious concepts, underscoring their substantial role in the cultural identity and social processes of Turkic peoples. Furthermore, borrowings from Western languages and other cultures, including Arabic, Persian, and Chinese, have been successfully adapted into Turkic languages, enhancing their lexical resources and enriching them with new meanings. The study also indicates that, while musical terminology in Turkic languages has retained its historical roots, it has undergone substantial changes to align with contemporary cultural conditions. This evolution reflects social, cultural, and religious shifts while maintaining its importance for national identity and cultural heritage. The findings highlight the essential role of musical terminology in shaping the national identity of Turkic peoples and the enrichment of their languages through interactions with other cultures and traditions.
