A Humanity Museum on the Road : Focused on the Outstanding Universal Value of World Heritage of the Mungyeongsaejae Old Route of Yeongnamdaero Main Road

This article studied the historical, cultural and scenery importance of the Mungyeongsaejae Old Route and the outstanding universal value, authenticity, integrity, issues of the preservation and management, problems of zoning of World Heritage Protection, etc. as a World Heritage in the perspective from that the Mungyeongsaejae Old Route is a part of the Yeongnamdaero Main Road, the latter is also a part of the World Heritage of Silk Roads.Since the newly exploited from the Three Kingdoms Era, the Mungyeongsaejae Old Route of the Yeongnamdaero Main Road, that is consistently transmitting its traditional ways of life, has utilized as a war road between Goguryeo and Baekje, and between Goguryeo and Shilla in the field of military, a communication road between Giho Province and Yeongnam Province, and between Korean Peninsular and Japan Islands in the field of culture, a trade road between Seoul and Yeongnam, and between Korean Peninsular and Japan Islands in the field of economy, and an envoy road between Korean and Japan in the field of policy, and today it is revitalizing the road as a cultural tour road based on the human contents and eco-cultural landscape.This article attempted to interpret the Mungyeongsaejae Old Route of the Yeongnamdaero Main Road through an approach of the inscription application of the Tentative List of the World Heritage based on the human contents such as history, culture, and geography on the road, and the tangible and intangible heritage on the landscape side of the road in view of the museum and cultural heritage.
