Tagwal is a mode of living expression within the Arab community of Beni Guil. This population with a kind of nomadic and semi nomadic life travels the region of the Highlands. It is an area that is characterized by a semi-arid and sub-Saharan climate very threatened by drought. These natural conditions correspond to the territory of the Beni Guil, and the practice of tagwal. This oral production in verse, is characterized by a rich and varied heritage; whether material, or immaterial represented by tagwals. The Beni Guil concerned with the traditions inherited from the ancestors, they want to keep alive the practice of tagwal within the community, maintain it and transmit it. The tagwal, this living culture, rich in its themes, repertoires and vocabulary, proves to be real living archives that deserve to be known by the general public and experts of the "World Heritage of Humanity." |
