Resumen

A still incipient and hardly explored typology of cultural tourism is the one concerning philosophy. Among the current offer of cultural tourism, only a minority of products are focused on highlighting philosophers’ works and their biographies, as well as certain philosophical concepts or the different stages in the history of such discipline. It is the first goal of this paper to define the concept of philosophical heritage, by means of delimiting which are those elements of the philosophic discipline that can be endowed with heritage value, as well as setting forth their potentialities and possible forms of presenting them within the framework of cultural tourism. On the other hand, the investigation also aims at analyzing and critically assessing the current use of the philosophical heritage in cultural tourism by means of establishing and reflecting upon how such heritage is up to now presented in heritage places. In order to first delimit the state of the art of such question, I carry out an inventory, on the European level, of the heritage places in which philosophical heritage is the main subject. Once having accomplished that, I proceed to analyze different features of those centers to establish the current forms of presentation of philosophy. Such investigation allows us to identify the current limitations of the use of the philosophical heritage in the context of cultural tourism, at the time that, therefore, it becomes a good ground for reflecting upon future proposals for those cultural products concerning the philosophical heritage.
