Turismo e património museológicos: o caso dos museus do Funchal

This paper examines the theme of cultural heritage existing in museums, as well as the relationship with tourism and local development of the territories. Cultural heritage is one heritage that unites in itself, and nowadays, a great diversity of elements/aspects such examples are objects, properties, buildings, structures, arts, stories etc. This reflection has two main parts. The more theoretical reveals itself with the definition of cultural heritage and museums, such as the relationship with tourism and local development. Already the practical component is linked to characteristics and impacts of cultural heritages in four museums of Funchal. This geographic area has good resources and sustainable products to a more or less specialized demand. It was prudent to propose measures to address certain shortcomings of the chosen museums, as well as more and better streamline them.
