The aim of this article is to analyze traditional knowledge of natureㆍspace in Jukbangryum[竹防簾] and Junak Fishing, handed down in Namhae and Nukdo Islands. Jukbangryum fishing is operating by a gap of the ebb and the flow of the tide. Therefore it needs various traditional knowledge of natureㆍspace, concerning of the geographical features above and below the sea, the tide, the dept of the sea, tide time and the habits of fishes etcs.. Junak fishing is operating by a long distance sailing over three days. Therefore it needs various traditional knowledge of natureㆍspace, concerning of a long distance voyage, a choice of the fishing place, the habits of fishes etcs.. A traditional ‘perception and judgement’ ways[Garyum], a mountain Garyum and a Garyum through the sky[天測], are based on these various traditional knowledge of natureㆍspace. Traditional knowledge of natureㆍspace is science knowledge and indigenous knowledge of folk based on local ecological conditions. And it is very important intangible cultural heritage handed down by our ancestors. Therefore we should research traditional knowledge of natureㆍspace and establish the way of conversation and usage of it before them natural dying. |
