The Study on Present State of Oral Record for Dance in Youngnam Area

This study is for the purpose of researching present state of oral record of dance in Youngnam area. Dance is disappeared without recording it any more after performing only one time, because it has the momentary character. So, only brief records such as dance director and dancer, theme of work, date and place of performance, etc. are present remained.Oral history, which historians and anthropologists are concerned with in recent days, is one of the new methodologies of qualitative research.Through oral history, people who cannot express their ideas and experiences with written languages can participate in recording history.Oral Record of Dance has recently been recognized that the need can know to their values and performing at the time of the social enviroment through oral dancers. Accordingly, this study researched project, collection, management, usage states of dance oral records step by step focus on the status of Youngnam Area as the Arko Arts Archive and the National Gugak Center, National Intangible Heritage Center are as follows； First, almost all the narrators majored in Youngnam Area is represented by dictator of 8 people.Second, dance oral records in the collection step are collected in various forms of oral sound record, oral video record and oral recording record.Third, the management method of oral record of Dance is various according to the institutions.Fourth, the usage step are updated mainly the list on website, published in book form and used in the method to provide person.This study is expected to contribute for promoting various studies as opening new ground level.
