The Investigation of Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Era of Independent Legislation of Intangible Cultural Heritage

In this paper, I examine investigation which is contained in policies and laws of intangiblecultural heritage. Aspect and orientation of the investigation which is progressed or plannedare examined. Discussion starts with a search of the Act on Safeguarding and Promotionof Intangible Cultural Heritage. As the Act on Safeguarding and Promotion of IntangibleCultural Heritage is the basis of policies for intangible cultural heritage, discussion aboutthis law is critical. In that discussion, comments about reasons for the enactment of the newlaw, features and limits of the new policy are discussed. Subsequently, I discuss aspectsof the investigation which appear in the relevant laws. Through that discussion, I point outlimits and bias of focus investigation. And I provide measures to overcome the limitations. Inclosing, I examine the Comprehensive Survey of the Korean Intangible Heritage.
