Can international projects and residencies enhance the value of intangible cultural heritage, which is fundamental for intercultural dialogue? In this perspective, mere preservation is not enough; it is crucial to transmit it to the younger generations and promote mutual understanding of traditions. The Giufa Project, Charlemagne Youth Prize Winner 2022 -Italy, serves as an example of such initiatives, as it builds a community through social theatre and storytelling. Born in 2014, it involves seven nations and over 30 communities, collecting a rich intangible cultural heritage: traditional stories, folk music, costumes, artisanal craftsmanship, and artistic productions. The project fosters dialogue between local communities and the international community through multigenerational and intercultural workshops, using a practical and performative approach. By examining The Giufa Project, we aim to explore the impact of artistic methodologies and archetypal figures on the enhancement of intangible cultural heritage. |
