The purpose of this study is analysis of Indonesian batik patterns which was listed UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage on 2009 to study factors which make it be national identity and consider the Indonesian history have been interacted with batik motifs. thereby it researched symbolic significance of batik patterns and any boost application cases of batik pattern stil transmitting and developing in Indonesia. The Indonesian history is multicultural and multiracial country and various religions dominated its culture. This culture was a large factor in the formation process of batik and represents diversity and regional identity of batik motifs in each region. So, motifs of each region has their own distinct characteristics. As batik has been handed down until today, motifs of batik like that have been utilized in many ways including interior, household items, etc. as well as fashion styles of Ewan Tarta, the fashion designer who represents modern Indonesia. Batik enjoys a renaissance in Indonesia with the development of industries today. And batik motifs are planned to be changed and recreated not being limited to traditional patterns as batik print has reved up. And the efforts to inherit batik including changing Indonesian young generations awareness have been continued as a museum in Pekalongan has provided batik educations to them. Therefore, Indonesian batik motifs have well kept symbolism which represents regional characteristics and national identity until today. And free expression modes of batik have expandability of culture by extending the influence through generations as traditional culture with diversity.
