Ritos y costumbres tradicionales en las Pascuas de Navidad de Lorca

The documentation of the different wintry festive and religious manifestations, focusing on Christmas, also known as “Pascuas” in Lorca, from the beginning of the 19th century, according to the printed informative sources mainly describing all the traditional festivities during these years: “gozo” mass, pilgrimages, Christmas tips, dances, Three Wise Men representations or Epiphany play, “escarnio” theater, etc. We have also described the festive groups that cheered up them, mainly bands and brotherhoods, as well as the most outstanding personalities who supported them: thanks to their duty they made possible all the festivities and gave sense to most of these rituals that have contributed, during the last two centuries, to the conservation of the immaterial heritage of many of these Christmas customs, nowadays unfortunately dissappeared from the popular culture, not always considered correct or understood.
