Resumen |
Within Manuel de Falla s musical production, his work "Siete canciones populares españolas" holds a unique place. In this piece, the composer showcases his compositional style based on the folklore of different Spanish regions. In this doctoral thesis, we focus on the harmonic analysis of the two songs inspired by the folklore of the Region of Murcia: "El Paño Moruno" and "Seguidilla Murciana." These songs reveal the compositional method based on the harmonic system of Tonal Superpositions. The extensive documentary legacy currently available on Manuel de Falla allows for a parallel study of the orchestral version created by Ernesto Halffter. This study aims to explain the process of realization and final result of this instrumental adaptation. The analysis conducted on the vocal and piano version, as well as the orchestral versions by Ernesto Halffter, and the examination of the correspondence between both musicians, demonstrate that the disciple maintains the same musical ideas as the master, Manuel de Falla. Based on these findings and considering the current reality in secondary education, where a weak musical culture regarding the heritage of the Region of Murcia is observed, we propose an educational project with a structured working methodology for this stage. The project aims to address the identified issue in school practice. It will involve working with a repertoire that goes beyond the usual repertoire in secondary education classrooms, introducing students to research and making them active participants in their learning process. The project aims to motivate students to analyze, understand, and appreciate the artistic and musical legacy of Spanish tradition, particularly from the Region of Murcia. This doctoral thesis pursues several complementary objectives. It is divided into two parts: the first focuses on the analysis of selected works by Manuel de Falla, while the second aims to design an educational project (and carry out an initial practical experience) with the purpose of expanding the theoretical and auditory knowledge of Murcian folk music through Manuel de Falla s "Siete canciones populares españolas" among students in compulsory secondary education (E.S.O). Regarding the methodology used in this work, it follows the approach of the humanities, which necessarily involves an interdisciplinary methodology. Historical method, analytical-deductive method, comparative method, and even hermeneutic method will be employed when accessing certain documents. Among the conclusions of this thesis, it is worth noting that, from an educational perspective, the results obtained from the activities proposed in our project, as reflected in the final questionnaire, show positive outcomes and indicate the achievement of the proposed objective. Significant improvements have been observed in all aspects. Specifically, all respondents have successfully understood the concept of folk music, recognized and distinguished pieces specific to the Region of Murcia and Spanish musical nationalism, gained knowledge about the composer Manuel de Falla and his work, and enhanced their skills and agility in analyzing scores. If we were to identify a weak point to work on for future projects, it would undoubtedly be the predisposition and motivation to listen to the music being studied. Looking ahead, it is important to highlight the possibilities of extrapolating the methodology of this project to study popular music from any region, establishing a connecting thread from regional music to the analysis, understanding, and appreciation of our artistic and musical heritage. |
