Focused on the perspective of social anthropology, the article is structured around the concepts of tradition and intangible cultural heritage and representation of social memory. From critical reviews, the paper approaches key texts and analyzes and evaluates the documents that UNESCO has made public on intangible heritage during the last fifteen years.
