Fiestas de Moros y Cristianos de Orce en honor a San Antón y San Sebastián: Fusión de personajes, simbolismos, tradiciones y actos

Located on the high plateau in eastern Granada province Orce village, cradle of the earliest European inhabitants, currently preserves rich intangible cultural heritage in which diverse actors, symbols, traditions and ceremonies are mixed together in what is one of its most notorious festivities: the celebrations in honour of San Anton and San Sebastian.My present essay will bring us closer to the knowledge of these festivals and the origins of their participants. It is once again demonstrated that Moors and Christian festivities are chameleonic, meaning that they do not only symbolise the Spanish Reconquest or the Middle Ages, but also encompass multiple historic events from Medieval Times to the Present, being able to combine heterogeneous components including different festivals from different periods and making them part of their own.
