Abstract

Recent developments in digital technology are changing the way of dance record. Dance is valuable to record and preserve, because of its beauty and artistry. However, current dance record methods have difficulty to record improvisational movements, dance movement which is hidden by costumes, and movement of positions. In addition, expensive professional equipment such as cameras and motion capture equipment is required for recording dance motions. Therefore, in order to overcome these problems, this study proposes and evaluates a prototype that visualizes dance movements based on wearable devices. As a result, the participant could only easily record the movement using this application, but also used it for dance training and performance rehearsal. The results of this study may provide implications for designing and developing applications of wearable devices that record and archive dance movements.
