Abstract |
Jeju Haenyeo has growing attention recently to be registered as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO on 2016, concurrently, has been highly acclaimed for its exclusive values. In this paper, improvement directions for the novel designs of cultural products of Jeju Haenyeo are suggested in terms of the heritage enhancement.To grasp the heritage enhancement needs of Jeju Haenyeo cultural product, the existing cultural products are analyzed and the survey is performed with questionaries from the analyzing results. At last, the final heritage enhancing issues are suggested.From the market survey, the design of the Jeju Haenyeo cultural products is still in old-fashioned and has vulnerabilities related to the Aesthetic factors. To face with these weaknesses, diversity and modernization of design are essential based on enhanced heritage including traditional visual images.In conclusion, the improvement directions are suggested which can inspire consumers at home and abroad and spread the values of Jeju Heanyeo by enhancing its heritage. This enhancement also can elicit public sympathy and satisfy the needs and trend from customers. Furthermore, the results of this research can be a preliminary data of marketability increase of the Jeju Haenyeo cultural products by shedding new lights on the history of civilization values. |
