Abstract

The protection and dissemination of intangible cultural heritage in China has evolved from a single industry behavior to social efforts involving extensive participation in multiple fields. How to raise the young generation s awareness has become an important issue in the protection and dissemination of intangible cultural heritage. After analyzing the current status of digital games, this paper proposes that digital games should be used as a new media in the protection and dissemination of Chinese intangible cultural heritage. The design of a light game based on WeChat platform in which Hangzhou s traditional cuisine culture is presented as an example to show techniques of integrating the elements of intangible cultural heritage into the game design effectively.
