An exhibition in museum should start from the inquiry on what to do and how to do the exhibition. However, there are significant number of museum exhibition displaying the tendency of simply introducing the cultural heritage. Audiences in such museum are satisfied by enjoying the views of cultural heritage only. To be sure, those rare cultural heritage bring heart-warming inspiration for audiences just by viewing them. However, if it is not a rare cultural heritage, the message of exhibition will be clarified when the ‘interpreted fact’ on the cultural heritage is conveyed through exhibition. From various types of cultural heritage, those traditional folk cultural heritage handed down within the ordinary living situation contain the transmitted knowledge. The transmitted knowledge is experienced knowledge that has been established through a significant time for appropriate discretion, understanding and communication on the social circumstance among people. The transmitted knowledge exists in cultural logic, symbolic cultural code, cultural encryption, or riddles in living within the traditional folk cultural heritage. The interpretation of the transmitted knowledge describes the logical reasoning of such complicated and inter-bonding culture facts within the cultural context. The museum should have the exhibitions to help understanding on the traditional folk cultural heritage for audiences. In order to undertake this type of exhibitions, it requires the interpretation of transmitted knowledge contained in the traditional folk cultural heritage. The transmitted knowledge has to be interpretated under the cultural context on how the traditional folk cultural heritage, irrespective of its nature as a tangible cultural heritage or intangible cultural heritage, for how it is produced, established, used or practiced. The interpretation of the transmitted knowledge following the cultural context of the traditional folk cultural heritage is to academically describe the people who used and handed down the applicable traditional folk cultural heritage within the customary ‘behavioral system’ or ‘ideological system’. |
