To help safeguarding this Indonesian art form of shadow puppetry, we develop a digital image analysis method to quantitatively analyze the moving shadow images. Our method uses cross-correlation between difference images to measure the displacement vector field of the movements. The measured range of the displacement values can be used to estimate the types of mechanical movements that correspond to the displacement vector fields.
