TY - JOUR AU - Marcos Maciel AU - Raimundo Barroso AU - Rosângela Del Vecchio AB - The Tremembe of Barra do Mundaú, indigenous people living on the coast of Ceará, have been resisting and reinventing themselves over the generations. The aim of this work is to show the songs composed by this people, to analyze the rhythmic and melodic structure, as well as the relations of the musical letters with the daily life, beliefs, struggles and history of the Tremembé. I also make a brief history of the ethnic struggles for the guarantee of the rights to their territories, and the Torém ritual, held in their meetings and festivities. In my work, I mainly use the ethnographic research carried out during my visits to the Tremembé Indigenous Land of Barra do Mundaú. I present here the transcriptions of the songs along with their lyrics. The recording resulted in the production of a CD with songs composed by the indigenous people of the study ethnicity. All the material produced aims to help preserve the melodies and lyrics of the compositions, and can also be used as a pedagogical instrument in indigenous schools.
