These were the subject of harmony, but also of struggles and social control held by the Church and the Portuguese. Nowadays such festivities attract a lot of people in Brazil. Apart from tourist attractions, religious celebrations in the country belong also to the intangible heritage and culture of Brazilians. This article aims at researching aspects of the Feast of Nosso Senhor dos Passos in the city of São Cristóvão Sergipe. The methodology used was literature research and direct observation during the celebration, complemented by a theoretical discussion about Baroque, Devotional Feast, Tradition, Religion, Procession, Memory, Tourism, Culture, Identity, Religion and Religious Cultural Tourism. This study concludes that as a distant territory from Portugal, since the colonial period until today, festivals and processions in Brazil developed their own characteristics and dynamics especially as a result of the unique mixture of races that was implemented here, experiencing the Catholic religion on their own way and incorporating such events into the Brazilian culture. a2182-8458
