In this context, rural advisory services can incorporate the local culture to achieve rural development. The purpose of this article is to analyze the international legal framework in relation to rural development, seeking to contextualize the relationship between it and the local culture, the Brazilian experiences of Technical Assistance and Rural Extension. Data were collected on bibliographical and documentary research. The results indicate that the rural advisory services can find new alternatives for rural development, using the intangible cultural heritage.
