Fialho AB - The dissertation named “Traditional building techniques in Vidigueira: rammed earth and traditional roofing” was written as a result of University of Évora Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation of the Architectonic and Landscape Heritage. Its author was able to acknowledge a universe of over 100 houses in the town of Vidigueira that were built using this construction technique. This paper’s purpose is to present these houses built, decorated and still occupied by some people of this small town. This paper also intendes to contribute to the knowledge about this community and its tangible and intangible heritage. When writing this paper, a methodological approach was established as far as possible, which combines the fields of historical sciences and architecture applied to urbanism and earthen constructions.
