The study reveals four important points of why Jeju Haenyeo culture is listed in the Intangible Heritage of Humanity and proposes them as a development plan for marine tourism contents in Korea.First, Jeju Haenyeo culture symbolizes and establishes the unique cultural identity of its region. This means that we need to develop marine tourism contents in each coastal area and fishing village in accordance with the situation of times and demands of marine tourists. Second, Jeju Haenyeo culture is a sustainable marine environment in a nature-friendly way. This means that efforts should be made to diversify eco-friendly marine tourism contents. Third, it is a viewpoint that the culture of Jeju Island is developed and operated at the eye level of marine tourists. This means that marine tourism contents developed in the future should be revitalized by securing programs developed and operated from the viewpoints of tourists. Fourth, it is a viewpoint that the Jeju Haenyeo culture has been continuously passed through related knowledge and technology through the community. This means that, in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, traditional marine tourism contents and its history must be provided not only offline but also online as well.
