Even though the houses are the legacy of tangible artefacts and intangible attributes of society that are inherited from the past generations; they have to be maintained in the present and preserved for the benefit of future generations for in-depth cultural understanding. This qualitative research used phenomenology and narrative approaches to seek the cultural heritage elements within the Peranakan Houses in the area of Chinatown, Lasem.
