Examples, within the Korean heritage, with a character of performance art that illustrate elements of traditional attitude, character, sentiments, and philosophy include performances in folk drama, folk play as well as in religious rituals. Such examples can be utilized as comprehensive expressions of art in the contemporary art setting within the context of the education of traditional cultural heritage as well as in integrated education.The element of performance art within folk plays can be emphasized through examining the components of literature, art, dance and music,while folk plays can be useful in teaching theatricals of performance nature, suggestive nature, and finally of occupational nature. Additionally,the performance art aspect of religious rituals can give meanings and values to the Korean traditional heritage through demonstrating the emotional nature of human minds as well as the traditional attitudes towards the simple matters of life and death. These acts also offer familiarity to the public, solicit public interest and are of everyday life;therefore, such fundamental characteristics can be applied to expressions of performance arts easily.무형문화유산을 활용한 미술교육 효용 연구 27The emphasis on the performance art components within the general Korean heritage has three different branches of benefits. Firstly, it teaches creativity and traditional virtues. Secondly, it facilitates the transmission of traditional culture. Lastly, it exemplifies integrated education.
