The dispute over the markets of la Merced, a metropolitan center of supply in the historical center of Mexico city, starts from a megaproject of “comprehensive rescue” by the local government, announced in 2013, which under the pretense of obsolescence, promotes the “recovery” and modernization of the markets, with a logic that intends to commercialize intangible heritage. the article highlights the differentiated opposition from different retailers face to this megaproject
